JUCO cover state for prospects
From Alcoa to Arlington.
From Greeneville to Germantown.
From Morristown to Memphis and stops in between.
That seemed to be the travel pattern of the hard working staff at Walter's State Community College.
The Morristown Junior College signed seven players from the state that range from Memphis to Nashville to the Tri-Cities.
Coach Bill Carlyle scoured the Tennessee landscape for guards of all flavors. Short ones, tall ones, shooters and passers. He stayed home for Dustin Guthrie a 6-1 shooting guard from Morristown West, then made the trip north to get 6-3 South Greene combo guard Kyle Donahue and 6-1 shooter Deshaud Moore from Greeneville. On the way back they picked up Cosby sharpshooter 5-11 guard Dexter Manning.
The Senators venerable coach and his diligent staff then made the trip down I-40 to Nashville. A quick stop at McGavock netted 5-11 shooting guard J.R. Crenshaw. The tough nosed guard will greatly benefit from the toughness of the TJCCAA. To the road again and a stop in Clarksville to find the quintessential point man Freeman Pinckney from Kenwood. The diminutive guard will thrive in the Senators up-tempo style, his unselfishness will be welcomed by his teammates.
Tired and fatigued the staff made one more push into the Bluff City to Carver High School and stylish guard SirLester Martin.
The hard work paid off with seven good solid players who will man the backcourt in the TJCCAA for the next few years.
