Tyler Smith goes to the Big Ten Former Tennessee Prep Hoops #1 ranked player for the Class of 2005, Tyler Smith has committed to play for Steve Alford and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Smith,who originally hails from Pulaski, committed to Tennessee out of high school but when the coaching staff was changed Smith re-opened his recruitment and enrolled at Hargrave Military Academy.

The move was quite beneficial as Smith honed his game and worked on his weaknesses, namely the outside shot, and ended the season averaging a solid 20-10.

Smith, who helped lead Giles County to the state title as a junior, chose the Hawkeyes over interest from Kentucky, Pittsburgh, Memphis and Cincinnati.
