Nashville boasts strong finish at T.O.C
The Celtics came to play. Plain and simple the Nashville kids were not taking a vacation they made the trip to North Carolina with the intent of showing the basketball world they belong.
After a tough loss on Friday night to eventual championship game loser The Playaz, the Celtics defeated a very good Team Breakdown 68-67 in sudden death overtime on a foul shot from Gerald Robinson (MLK). After losing a huge lead the Celtics poised themselves and captured victory from the jaws of defeat in this contest. Robinson led the way with 17 and Scott Saunders (BGA) dropped 12.
The huge victory carried the Celts to an 84-80 victory over Inner Strength to finish second in their pool and advance to bracket play. Robinson led the way with 20, DeMario Williams (Culleoka) scored 17, Josh Salter (Lipscomb) added 12 and G.W. Boon (Alabama) finished with 11.
The winning continued with a huge 70-69 victory over the Chicago Jaguars. The Celtics once again came to play and scored a statement win over one of the country's best teams. Robinson showed the way with 19, Slater added 15, Jeremy Anderson (Kentucky) scored 14 and played outstanding all weeked long and Saunders added 12.
The Celtics had to endure an ankle tweak to Robinson and fell to a very good Houston Select squad 81-67. Josh Slater led the way with 19 points and capped a huge weekend for the Lipscomb signee.
Gerald Robinson was fantastic for the entire weekend and was rewarded with a spot on the all-tournament team. Also standing out for the Celtics despite not scoring alot of points was Codye Hatcher (Antioch) who had a good tourney on the boards and played hard on the defensive end. |
