More signings from around the state.
The time of year for the Class of 2006 to make their plans for the next few years is truly upon us. Players from all corners of the state have decided on their college decisions.
The Maryville Scots land the second player in their recruiting class with the signing of Cosby lightning rod Timmy Blakely. Coach Randy Lambert will love the enthusiasm and work ethic of the 6-4 youngster and will find a place for him to play immediately.
Staying in East Tennesee the Knoxville area Player of the Year Tony White Jr from Bearden has decided to make the jaunt to prep school and will enroll at Massanutten Military Academy in Woodstock, Virginia. White will be a welcome addition for Coach Leo Strother's Colonel's with his instant offense and good knowledge of the game. He will use this opportunity to get his body stronger for the rigors of every day college basketball.
Not to be outdone, Bearden's chief rival will send one of theirs down the highway to continue his basketball career. B.J. Browning of Farragut will take his lefty stroke to Hiwasee Junior College. Coach Danny Green will love the range of the Knoxville marksman and he will be a good addition for the Tigers.
Volunteer State head man Bobby Hudson has announced the signing of two very solid prospects from the Memphis area. Romeio Lucchesi, the 6-4 athlete from Middle College, will take his considerable talent to the Pioneers roster. Lucchesi is an untapped gem who will use the junior college experience as a stepping stone for a DI opportunity. The other Memphis product to cast his wares for the Pioneers is Memphis East scorer Antonio Whitehead. The 5-10 shooter has the ability to keep defenses honest with his outside shot and can run the break with good passing skills. These are two great finds for the TJCCAA school.
Staying in the West, two more Memphis players will extend their careers with a solid junior college program. Najul and Juniele Ervin, the Memphis Mitchell duo, will take their considerable talent to play for David Holstein and the Cavaliers of Kankakee Junior College in Illinois. The Ervin brother played in the shadow of the much more hearlded Mitchell trio of Thad Young, Brandon Powell and Andre Thornton, but still showed enough potential that they will make fine talents at the juco establishment.
As they come in I will attempt to get them out. Congrats to all those who will continue to play the best game in the world on the next level. |
