Nike's Grassroots event coverage for the Volunteer state.
The 2006 Nike Hoop Jamboree in St. Louis is one of the feature events every year on the calender for the folks at Nike. The grassroots event brings some of the top underclassmen in the country to St. Louis for a series of games and skills evaluation.
The state of Tennessee was well represented with 5 players attending the prestigious event. Memphis Briarcrest rising sophomore Leslie McDonald, MUS rising sophomore Farrahkan Hall, East Ridge junior Phillip Jurrick, Shelbyville sophomore big man Chandler Gross and Raleigh-Egypt heir apparent Gentry Hines.
My Nike source tells me that McDonald proved his worth as one of the top youngster in the country. Showing his ability to score from inside and out and generally outplaying those in attendance. Jurrick got some mention with his physical size and huge upside. His main focus should be ridiculous fundamental work and he will be a high major prospect. Farrahkan Hall was another highly thought of prospect. His relentless board work and skillful inside scoring made those in attendance salivate at the thought of his future potential.
We will attempt to have a report this week on what shoe camp some of our Tennessee preps will attend. |
