The teams from the Volunteer state that will play at the Kentucky tourney.
Once the Hoosier Shootout comes to a close, the basketball world makes the jump next door to the Bluegrass State and thus begin the Kentucky Hoopfest. One of the premier tourneys of the summer the Hoopfest will feature many of the country's top summer programs and of course the Volunteer state will be well accounted for.
In the 17 and under division six teams take the court, there will be 3 in the 16's and the same amount in the 15's. Let's take a look at what each team brings to the table:
17 and under
TENNESSEE MAVERICKS
Here's a great chance for the Mavs to show off some of their quality players including Allen,Jurrick,Brown and Wright.
KEN-TENN RUN-N-GUN
Young squad who wants to make a statement with a semi-home crowd on hand. Leading the way will be M.J. Brown, who will be the next star out of Union City.
MURFREESBORO STARS
Good to see the Stars making the rounds in July. Prep school attendees Oden and Goodwin and rising seniors Davis and Jones will make a run at the crown.
NASHVILLE CELTICS
They will welcome back Robinson and Williams to the fold. With their lineup intact they could and will make some noise in the town that Pitino built.
M33M BALLERZ
The Memphis young bunch will divide into two squads for the Hoopfest, so roster identification will require some effort. The team is loaded with good young prospects and there should be enough to go around. Keep an eye on Williams, White, Brereton and Mason.
16 and under
MUSIC CITY JAGS
The kids from Nashville stride into Kentucky with a solid squad that is well coached and ready to make a little racket. Woods will need to be at his best for the Jags to have an impact.
NASHVILLE CELTICS
Looking strong with Williams back from the adidas Camp. This could be a huge opportunity for Weitzel to make a name for himself with inspired play on the big stage.
TENNESSEE TRAVELERS
The team should have meshed at the Shootout and will carry this over to the Hoopfest. Someone will need to breakout and carry the load we see Dowdell having the strong enough back to do just that.
15 and under
TENNESSEE FLIGHT
As stated earlier, I am ecstatic for these kids to get the chance. Take advantage of the opportunity and make a splash on the national level. Breakout performances on the horizon for Jenkins.
TENNESSEE TRAVELERS
Having had a long layoff should have been solved at the Shootout. They will be ready to make an impact in Kentucky. The scene will welcome the addition of Moore who will light up the Kentucky countryside.
CHATTANOOGA THUNDER
Solid squad who has held their own during the trials and tribulations of summer hoops. Good chance to make a statement on the national level. Big things forthcoming for Allen. |
