Liberty Tech proved national ranking worthy in the opening round of the City of Palms Tournament in lovely Fort Meyers Florida.
The Crusaders took advantage of their percieved underdog status and broke open a close contest with a sterling 24-8 third quarter onslaught that put the game out of reach and they coasted to a 69-49 thumping of Miami Monsignor Pace. Liberty senior Josh Sain led the scoring with 22 big points and was instrumental in helping keep Pace's marquee name Ray Shipman in check throughout most of the contest. The Crusaders raised their season record to 11-0 and will play again today against a squad from Pennsylvania. Helping Sain in the scoring column were Devon Jones with 13, Murray State signee Jewon Long with 11 and Antwon "Big Boi" Long with 10.
