![]() Gerald Robinson Tomorrow brings us the biggest games of the season thus far with the winners moving on to another day. REGION 1AA: No huge surprises here with both top seeds moving on. Unicoi County appears to be the team to beat but Johnson County had a big first round win over Cumberland Gap at their place. Rutledge continues to ride the wave of Skyler McBee but may have come face to face with the immovable object in Adam Woodrick and a hungry Pigeon Forge squad. Prediction: Unicoi County vs. Pigeon Forge for the region title.
REGION 2AA: Alcoa got a win away from home and with that gets top seed Austin East. Loudon was the only team from their side to move on but gets Fulton at their place as a reward. Looks like we shall see the fourth meeting between the Roadrunners and the Falcons unless the Redskins or Tornadoes pull off the upset. If you recall Alcoa pulled that feat off last year. Prediction: Austin East vs. Fulton in the region title.
REGION 3AA: Surprising Chattanooga Christian handled top seed Tyner Academy to advance and play Howard. Sophomore William Moore is the CCS stud and he will certainly be the top priority for the Hustlin' Tigers. Another barnburner in the other semi-final pits East Ridge and big Phillip Jurick against steady Brainard. Prediction: Howard vs. East Ridge in the region final. REGION 4AA: Top seeds adavance with Livingston Academy and White House preparing for a showdown for a home sub-state game. Livingston will get strong opposition from Station Camp and big man Drew McDonald and Jeff Terrell, but the injury to super scorer John Jenkins will be prevalent in this one. White House is running on all cylinders with Jeremy Barnes leading the way after a huge 28 point effort in the first round. Prediction: Livingston Academy vs. White House in the region final.
REGION 5AA: State ranked Lipscomb was eliinated but new entry CPA will make it's case for a showdown in the finals. Drew Maddux has done wonders with this very young bunch and Zaccheus Mason and Hunter Miller are playing like all-state performers. District 10 top seed Giles County will be prepared having been here before and will look for leadership from their senior class. On the other side MLK and senior leader Gerald Robinson shook off early season woes and concentrated on district success and it paid off. Prediction: MLK VS. CPA
REGION 6AA The teams are exactly whom we thought Harpeth, Bolivar, Sycamore and Liberty Tech. Unfortunately for those other memebers the results should also be what we expect..a Liberty Tech final. Bolivar has surprised with a last seaosn surge using a great number of very young players. Harpeth has Kevin Giltner and Scott Newton so experience should prevail. Prediction: Harpeth vs. Liberty Tech in the region final.
REGION 7AA: First time with Haywood County in quite some time means a new face should emerge from this region. The new face may belong to Dyer County whose new coaching staff has worked wonders and junior sharpshooter Justin Blake has become one of the states finest. Fayette Ware and Crockett County should be a fun matchup with the Johnson twins battling JeJuan Jacks. Prediction: Dyer County vs. Fayette-Ware for the region title.
REGION 8AA: With a singular goal in mind BTW is steadfast in wanting a state matchup with defending champion Liberty Tech. This part of that process for Tim Ware and crew. BTW msut contain high scoring Randy Culpepper to advance. Perennial state participant Mitchell battle Carver for the spot opposite BTW. Prediction: BTW vs. Mitchell for the region title. |
