Kevin Smith Kevin Smith becomes the 19th Tennessee hoopster to go DI.
Good things come to those who wait. Just ask Riverdale athlete Kevin Smith. The 6-4 jumping jack made the move to point guard for his senior season to help his squad and sacrificied some of his scoring opportunities but used the experience to gain a perspective of the guard position. His willingness to put team first and his outstanding athletic skills on the defensive end caught the eye of Richmond head man Billy Mooney. The head Spider wasted little time making Smith an offer and the Mufreesboro star accepted over the weekend. Smith has freak athletic ability and can finish strong on the break. His ball skills are improved and he will go by you if you don't repect the handles. His work ethic will allow him to compete on the next level. Smith, who ran this summer with the Mid-State Ballerz Elite, needs to work on his outside shot to make himself a more versatile weapon on the next level. Smith is the 19th player from the Class of 2007 to commit or sign with a DI school and will be a valuable asset to the Atlantic 10 member. Congrats to Kevin and we wish him nothing but the best. He is a fine young man who has the work ethic and gumption to make this venture a complete success. |
