![]() Antwaine Wiggins Antwaine Wiggins brings the DI count to 24 with his pledge.....other commitments as well. Antwaine Wiggins came down to the last minute. The 6-8 wingman from Greeneville High School had a tough decision on his hands. He had basically narrowed his choices down to two schools..Appalachian State and College of Charleston. In the end the venerable coach won out and Wigggins committed to the Cougars of College of Charleston. The venerable coach we speak of is Bobby Cremins, he of Georgia Tech fame has catapulted the Southern Conference's newest darling to the head of the recruiting world bringing in one of the nation's top classes. Wiggins will be a stalwart for the Cougars with his length and ability to score off the bounce and drop the three. When his strength catches up to his ability he will be a potential all-conference performer. So who else pledged this past week.... The Tennessee Junior College ranks saw a flurry of activity including the following: Russell McNeal (Soddy Daisy) was a hot commodity among junior colleges all over the Southeast. The consumate point guard broke the hearts of everyone except Bobby Steinburg and his Motlow State squad. A sure future DI player McNeal will terrorize opponents in the TJCCAA for a couple of years. Walter's State in Morristown got the commitment from two players, one from each side of the state. From the East come Andrew Winstead (Morrristown West), a solid shooter who will gratly benefit from a junior college experience. From the West comes Alvin Thomas (Wooddale), a Memphis point guard who is ready to make an immediate impact. Malcolm Montgomery, the head man at Columbia State, pulls off another important recruit, netting state tourney impacter Shaun Merriweather (Clarksville). The double/double machine will thrive in the juco ranks and should make the move to DI after his body catches up with his skills. Lee's McRae gathered their second recruit from the Volunteer state in the past week getting Aaron Willey (Sullivan South). Willey joins Aaron Woodacre from University High for the DII school. South Atlantic Conference newcomer Lincoln Memorial adds Josef Throp (Dobyns Bennett). The Indians senior was a very solid performer for four seasons and will add toughness to the Railsplitters program. |
