Players descended on the serene campus of Trevecca Nazerene University to get a chance to showcase themselves in front of some coaches. Thirteen coaches viewed the action on Saturday and no less than eight players came away with offers or potential offers from the event. I had the idea of picking the top players and writing something but decided to give a little text to everyone at the event. The players will be listed by team. Orange Adam Bozarth (Alabama) Smart player with good outside shot despite it wind-up mechanics, who lacks athletic skills but has above average basketball IQ. Micheal Aldaffer (Bethel College) Good shooter, scorer who plays with fire and intensity, needs a left hand and is a much better system player. Josh Lipscomb (NCA Academy) Great athlete, plays with fire and emotion. Lacks a great outside shot but has a fierce offensive mnentality inside. David Spare (Culleoka) Small lefty shooter plays hard but lacks size to make an impact.
Maroon B.J. Wright (Spring Hill) Good penetrator who can finish with opposition, makes the outlet on the break, gets himself too deep alot of times and turns over Kyle Workman (Alabama) Another good shooter when feet are set, lacks ball-handling skills, finishes inside with either hand Kelvin Winrow (East Literature) Played his way on someone's roster, had trouble shooting outside but was a menace flying to the hoops and on the boards
Black Murray Harris (Sycamore) Hardest working kid around, lacks the physical size to make an impact, can shoot and has good instincts with the ball, could play DIII Chase Campbell (Columbia State) Athletic player who plays so hard, his shot is adequate and he is improving trying to run the one. Will make a player for someone. Kurtis Woods (Alabama) Top player in the event, can shoot the lights out and has incredible athletic skills, Tends to overindulge and can get in bad spots. Alex Nemeth (Centennial) Good outside shooter from a stand still position, finished with both hands around bucket, much better in halfcourt setting Jarrodd Lockett (Alabama) Big man played with all he had, needs to improve his skill set in the post and learn a few go to moves, hand strength would help
Gold Aaron Aldaffer (Eagleville) Toughest kid in the event gives his all on both end sof the floor, much more comfy in a system, would be an asset for someone. Alex Johnson (Lebanon) Athletic small guy who showed some huge moments but needs to improve his point skills and consitent ball-handling Tremayne Haymer (n/a) Big man played hard but needs to work on his skills inside and conditioning as well, effort was there. Jake Hess (Fairview) Played better as the event moved on needs left hand for inside finishes but absorbed contact and made some tough buckets Austin Richardson (Kentucky) Smooth operator who was a better athlete than first percieved, has a shot and will make the tough run to the glass, good prospect
Royal Blue Russell Frazier (Nashville Christian) Most consistent shooter in the event, showed he could put it on the floor as well, his size will need to be overlooked William Johnson (Glendale CC) Big Will showed tremendous offensive skills and played hard, must get in shape and an opportunity awaits him (understand William) Anthony Lipee (Hunter's Lane) Another small player who had heart and played with toughness, can shoot and had a quick first step, smart player Eric Bassette (Alabama) Could finish around the bucket, very long and solid on the offensive glass, at his size lacks guard skills, must improve them
Kelly Green Blake Giles (Lipscomb w/o) "Baby Hulk" showed a much improved outside shot and used his strength to take people to the bucket, has good basketball mind Mark Greenwood (Motlow State) Has good size and just needs court work to get better, his conditioning needs alot of work and his hands need strengthening Byron Shelton (Northside) Quick player who runs the floor and has solid handles, can finish in traffic jucos should be all over him Anthony Cooper (East Literature) Small athlete showed he could finish off the bounce and had a decent outside shot, at his size he needs to do something very well
Dark Green Eric Bell (McGavock) Lefty slasher played very well, forces some shots but finishes majority of them, great in open floor, certainly needs an opportunity Eric Tooley (Kenwood) Another small athlete who needs more consitent outside shot but has good point guard mentality, will push it off the break Joseph Evans (JCM) Tough youngster who played despite nakle tweaking, exploded to the bucket, adequate shot but did damage inside at 6-4 Taylor Jarrell (White House-Heritage) Solid youngster with incredible basketball saavy, always foiund the open man and was athletic enough to lead break, good shooter, small build Coty String (Columbia State) Incredible athlete who finishes with a flush, very long with continued effort, ok mid-range no deeper, offenisve glass a strength
Purple Craig Bargo (Kentucky) Made a great deal of shots and found a way to score, a little to much flair in his passing caused turnovers, work on quickness William Jordan (Franklin) Good offensive skill set with the seal-off and effort on the glass, yet had trouble scoring the ball, long body, has a chance Alston Enyard (Columbia State) Nice shooter who takes them irregardless of the situation, can hit them from anywhere when hot, work off the dribble would help him
Red David Barnes (Blackman) Big strong player who can shoot the ball when his mechanics are correct, a much better sytem player, smart decision-maker Bobby Gibson (Holloway) Small guard gave maximum effort but had trouble finishing with his lack of size, his skill set was there just unable to finish Channing Coffey (Motlow State) Did not play this season, but showed he still could, finished all around the bucket and used his length to defend, needs a chance Jonas Darden (Baylor) Small guard plays hard and has a decent outside shot, his work will come on the ball-handling side and decision amaking Cameron Jordan (Hillsboro) When his head is in the game he does very well, tends to deviate from the game, can pass in traffic and will finish when motivated
Navy Clifton Hardy (Ridgeway) Quick guard who has adequate ball skills but at his size must be able to do one thing very well, plays hard enough to deserve a shot Raymond White (Aquinas) Quick to the bucket and played hard from tap to whistle, his shot is a wind-up stroke but did go down a bit, slight build Michael Brookshire (East Literature) Undersized inside player who has some length and plays hard but must improve guard skills for next level, work ethic is there
