A fun weekend of games and drills became a showcase for some great efforts by some young Tennessee hoopers.

Tennessee prepsters made quite a name for themselves this weekend with outstanding performances at the inaugural Tennessee Elite Camp. I chose the top 12 players from the state keeping in mind several players had fine weekends. They will be listed in alphabetical order.

Ashlon Adams (Science Hill)

Ash seems to be maturing as his game continues to grow. He was deadly from the perimeter scoring numerous deep threes and finishing with tough drives to the floor. He played with a consistent effort the entire weekend which was great to see. The sky is the absolute limit for this athlete.

Martino Brock (Ridgeway)

Only played on Friday because of taking the ACT on Saturday. Martino was sensational with his above average defensive effort in the half-court and especially in transition. He gets his hands on more deflections and loose balls making him a very valuable commodity. His drives to the bucket and change of speed moves makes him dangerous whether he's scoring or making the pass. His outside shot needs some attention but his effort is top notch.

M.J. Brown (Union City)

Used his extreme quickness to seperate himself from a great deal of the players he faced. Brown was at his best going to the hoop either to score or make the important dish. His first step is dynamic and tough for his opponent to handle and his outside game is solid.

Tyrone Caldwell (Clarksville)

Continued his solid summer playing with leadership and poise. His outside shot has improved exponentially and has become a weapon for him. He commands the ball and always makes the correct pass to open teammates. His defensive effort is above average.

Tereas Clemmons (Wilson Central)

Rising sophomore was one who raised many eyebrows with his efforts. The lanky lefty shot it lights out from deep and put it on the floor well enough to keep his defender off balance. He showed a toughness and fearlessness that belied his age and proved he belonged on the court with the older players.

James Gallman (Fulton)

Local shooter proved he could play with the big boys. His defnesive pressure was astounding as he made everyone he guarded hate the experience. His outside shot continues to be his staple.

Ferrakohn Hall (MUS)

Tough agile big man showed he belongs on the top level. His above average athletic skills combined with great length and effort make him one of the state's best in this class. Hall can score on the block and has a good mid-range shot to go along with a knack for grabbing the offensive boards for put backs.

Gentry Hines (Raleigh-Egypt)

Memphis watch out this guy is for real. Hines was outstanding the entire weekend playing with a city toughness and never backing down irregardless who he was guarding. His oustide shot was definitely on as he continuously stroked deep threes from all over the court. Look for big things from Gentry this season.

Jason Jones (Ridgeway)

J.J. was astounding on Friday as he showed why some consider him a high major player. His explosiveness was on display as he soared to the bucket for some statement dunks and stroked the three showing his versatility. Jones was tough off the bounce finishing everything on his drives to the bucket and making his point guard happy scoring off the break.

Arnette Moultrie (Trezevant)

Big man had a good weekend showing he could score from the perimeter and board with the inside guys. He filled the lanes on the break and finished with a flush. His back to basket skills need refined but the effort is certainly there. His future is very bright when he adds strength to his frame.

Casey Prather (Jackson Northside)

The youngster was a showcase unto his own for the two day session. Parther showed a knack for scoring off the dribble or the offensive boards. His outside shot is adequate and will get better with gym work. He is ultra athletic and surprised many folks with his quickness and explosiveness. A great prospect with a high major future.

Ricky Taylor (Haywood County)

"The Truth" was his consistent self throughout the weekend. He stroked the outside shot and made his temmates better with great entry passes for easy buckets. Taylor had some impressive drives to the bucket with a sic hesitation dribble. A steady competitor who will make some coach very happy.
