One of the state's staples just keeps on rolling forward.

Just like a great deal of their counterparts the Tennessee Travelers took a little while to get things rolling this summer. New players, young inside talent and emerging chemistry made for the slow start. As the guys got more in tuned with each other and learned what each could do the magic started to appear and July finished with a flourish.

Guard play has become a dominant trait for the past few Travelers groups. This year would prove no exception. From Tyler Cutter (Seigel), Jordan Damron (Maryville), Michael France (Shelbyville), Ryan Walden (Knoxville Catholic) and Kevin Giltner (Harpeth) the Travs had a solid group of backcourt men to choose from. Cutter had a great summer showing he could run a squad and displaying the toughness that he is known for. Damron continued to knock the botom out of the bucket from deep and France had moments where he looked like the best guard oin the floor. Walden is a better than average offensive rebounder with good athleticism. Giltner proved he belonged with the big boys with his summer progression.

Quinche Dowdell (Oak Ridge) made the most of his productive summer stepping outside for the occassional three and showing he could at times put the ball on the floor. His best game is still slashing to the bucket but his skills have improved. Another Travelers who played with hustle and determination was rising senior Josh Henley (Hunter's Lane).

Inside the Travelers were not as dep as they would have liked and had to pull some players from the rising junior class. Tahj Wells (Antioch) was the lone rising senior. He had some very solid moments with his scoring and rebounding presence but was not consistent with his effort. Joe Meady (Knoxville Carter) and Jay Reynolds (Maryville) did their best to grab some minutes inside. Meady is an up and comer with a world of potential, if he continues his upward spiral he will command much face time with college coaches. Reynolds is another improving big man who never gives less than all he has. The two rising juniors certainly help the outlook for next seasons 17 and under campaign.

Another productive summer for Charlie and his boys.
