![]() Leslie McDonald Epic encounter with two of Memphis finest. Week two of the Super 80 Fall League took on massive proportions with the impending matchup between the Pacers and the Heat. Not Jermaine O'Neal against Shaq but on a prep level pretty darn close. Joe "The Real Thing" Jackson (White Station) vs. Leslie McDonald (Briarcrest Christian) Like Godzilla vs. Mothra. Ali vs. Frazier. Magic vs. Bird. The stakes may not have been as high but the atmosphere was electric. The top player from each of their respective classes of 2009 and 2010 held court with the eyes of Memphis upon them. Jackson was his usual self dropping 33 and helping lead his Pacers to a 82-78 victory over McDonald's Heat. The silky smooth rising junior did all he could also finishing the contest with 33. McDonald's high school running mate Elgin Lee (Briarcrest Christian) was solid in triumph finishing with 21 markers and Mitchell big man Lewis McCaster (Mitchell) finished with a double/double himself. Malcolm Burton (Kirby) was stellar in defeat finishing with 25. In the other Wednesday night clash, Sampson Carter (Ridgeway) put forth his best don't forget about me statement dangling 44 markers and 14 caroms in the Bulls 86-83 win over the Cavs. The Bulls backcourt leader Edwin Dorsey (Oakhaven) added 12 in victory. Gregg Wooten (Braircrest Christian) and Zach Ricketts (St. Benedict) finished with 23 and 19 respectively for the Cavs. Ricketts also managed to lasso 10 boards and blocked a half a dozen errant attempts. In Tuesday night action Jason Jones (Ridgeway) knocked down 37 and brand new Missouri commitment Laurence Bowers (St. George's) added 30 points and 15 boards as the Spurs easily dispatched of the Grizzlies 83-67. Trey Payne (Manassas) was glorious in victory dishing out 10 assists and dropping nine points of his own. Ken Torry (Mitchell) was high man for the Griz with 30. Balance was the case as four players dropped double digits and the Lakers held off the Suns 62-56. Ronald Brown (Raleigh-Egypt) finished as high man with 12 followed closely by Terrico White (Craigmont) and Erik Buggs (Mitchell) with 11 and Darryl Neal (Mitchell) with 10. Youngsters dominated the scoring for the Suns led by a unique double/double from rising sophomore Tarik Black (Ridgeway). The big man kncoked down 20 big points and grabbed 20 boards to go along with it. Chris Crawford (Sheffield) also finshed with 20. |
