We look back at our preseason predictions for the state tourney.
With region play looming, I thought it would be fun to look back and see who we chose as the representatives from each region that would participate in the state tournament. Most of the teams remain alive through district play, but the hard road has yet to be traveled.
Class A:
Cosby-States #1 ranked squad. We are looking good on this one.
Wartburg Central-Playing well just won the district crown
Temple-Always a safe bet
Grace Baptist-See Temple
Eagleville-This could bite us, but they do remain alive thus far
Culleoka-Playing very well. Soundly won their district.
Middleton-Started slow, but have dominated in playoff action
Union City-Still alive, but for how long?
Class AA:
Alcoa-Playing better with things on the line, we will see
Austin East-Best team in AA in these parts
Greenbriar-Underachieving season, but a big victory in district could propel them
McMinn Central-#1 ranked and just biding their time
Bolivar Central-The real games start today
Liberty Tech-Must get sub-state game at home, if possible
Mitchell-Clicking on all cylinders, they want and need to make a run
Haywood County-Kinda hiding back till the money is on the line
Class AAA:
Oak Ridge: Jeckyl and Hyde-If Hyde comes out then this will happen
Science Hill-Disapointed in the district, the need to step up in region
Bradley Central-Another up and down squad-with T.O. I like up
Seigel-With Jimmy back this could get personal, they want to stay home
White's Creek-Very tough district, they can make it happen
Beech-This one could bite me, but they have the ability to surprise
Hamilton-Could this be a team for the ages?
Ridgeway-They may end up at Raleigh-Egypt which could prove my downfall
Stay tuned and we will see if my pre-season prognostications come to fruition. |
