Class of 2010 guards dominate final.
The future looks very bright.
Joe Jackson (White Station) and tourney MVP Mardracus Wade (Mitchell) each scored 21 and after three overtimes helped their Pacers capture the inaugural Super 80 title 86-86 over the surging Lakers. Packed stands witnessed the continued emergence of Wade, who is proving to be a team leader and very talented frontman at his young age.
Joining the super sophs in the scoring column for the Pacers were Martin Mitchell (CBHS) with 15 and Elgin Lee (Briarcrest Christian) with 14.
The Lakers got sterling effort from Mitchell senior Jarvis Jones with 23 and Valpo commitment Erik Buggs added 21.
The Pacers advanced to the title game by dropping the Spurs 68-61 in the semi-finals. "The Real Thing" Joe Jackson was at his usual best finishing with 33 markers and 7 dimes. Elgin Lee added 21. Jason Jones (Ridgeway) was solid in defeat netting 30 for the Spurs.
The Lakers found their path to the final much easier dispatching of the Grizzlies 100-84. League MVP Terrico White (Craigmont) led the charge with 35 points and 15 caroms. Jarvis Jones contiued his superb play finishing with 23. The Grizzlies were led by emerging Ridgeway player Dominique Shellman, who finished with 24. Ken Torry (Mitchell) and Jacob Arnett (Tipton Rosemark) finished with 22 and 20 respectively.
In the consolation game the Grizzlies got by the Spurs 76-73 behind Arnett's 23. Roman Williams (Arlington) had a great night in defeat finishing with 24 points.
As mentioned before Terrico White was named League MVP. Mardracus Wade was named Tourney MVP.
