Jewon Long leads Liberty to Class AA state championships.
Liberty Tech dug deep into their psyche and came away with an improbabale victory over Memphis Mitchell to capture the Class AA state crown. Liberty got inspired performances from Jewon Long, Devon Jones and diminutive point man Anthony Sampson in their 64-60 victory over Mitchell.
The Mitchell triumvirate made an early statement with a tough hard-fought opening round victory over Bolivar. This victory seemed to be the ignition that set the Mitchell rocket off and running. Liberty Tech had other ideas. Mitchell was the unfortunate victim of some bickering among the players that was clear to anyone in attendance and that seemed to rear it's ugly head in crunch time. Liberty was fantastic in their game preparation and fought all night to secure their first state championship. Jewon Long was rewarded for his inspired performance with the MVP trophy.
